Tech Companies are Making Moves in Response to Russia's Invasion of Ukraine

While politics plays a major role in determining the outcomes of the war, so too does the technological and business sector. Many social media platforms such as Tik Tok and Twitter are being used to incite "information warfare" (Sky News) to influence the general public's views regarding the matter. In response, tech companies are revamping their security measures, especially considering that cyber attacks are of greater possibility.

Companies such as Netflix, Airbnb, and Apple are either suspending particular services and affiliations with Russia. Meta and Apple have blocked RT and Sputnik on their platforms as they are state-sponsored by Russia. Google has even updated its map services in Ukraine so that Ukrainians have quicker, easier access to information regarding UN resources. Such information is crucial when navigating the war and seeking refuge and asylum.
